Maketū Pies Saved After Voluntary Liquidation
In a heartening turn of events, Maketū Pies has been saved from liquidation just two weeks into the process, thanks to a new owner and operator. Privately-owned catering business Montana Group has taken over the 42-year-old brand and its approximately 20 employees.
Maketū Foods Ltd was placed into voluntary solvent liquidation by its previous owner, Te Arawa Management Ltd, at the end of November. Liquidators had been seeking a buyer for the business, but fortunately, a new opportunity arose.
A New Home for Maketū Pies
Montana Group, which employs about 1000 people and has 30 kitchens across Tāmaki Makaurau and the Waikato, has stepped in to save the beloved brand. Representatives from Montana Group met with the Maketū Pies team this week to make introductions and start the transition process.
Te Arawa bought the company in a receivership process five years ago. The new ownership marks a significant change for the business, but it appears that the commitment to quality and customer satisfaction remains unchanged.
A New Chapter for Maketū Pies
With Montana Group at the helm, Maketū Pies is set to continue serving its loyal customers with the same high standards of taste and quality. The company’s 42-year history is a testament to its enduring popularity, and it will be exciting to see how this new chapter unfolds.
“We are delighted to welcome Maketū Pies into our family,” said [Name], representative from Montana Group. “We look forward to working with the team to ensure continuity and success for the brand.”
